Managing Hypertension in '40s
High blood pressure, or hypertension (a reading of 130/80 mm Hg or higher), can silently damage the body over years. Uncontrolled, it damages and narrows arteries, potentially causing aneurysms.
This damage can lead to severe health problems affecting major organs:
Heart: Coronary artery disease, heart attack, heart failure, and an enlarged heart.
Brain: Stroke, transient ischemic attack (TIA or ministroke), and dementia.
Kidneys: It is a leading cause of kidney failure.
Eyes: Damage to blood vessels in the eye can cause vision loss.
Sexual Health: It can lead to erectile dysfunction.
Lifestyle changes and treatment are essential to control blood pressure and reduce the risk of these life-threatening conditions.
